The AI Model Audit: Copilot, Claude & ChatGPT Under Review

Earlier this year, David Brown gave Claude and ChatGPT the same challenge: build a financial model from scratch. Watching both tools interpret the brief, structure their calculations, and compete in real time was exciting. It also led to other important questions.

Building a model is one thing. Can AI recognise whether a completed model is reliable? Can it review a human built model? If it does, will it find the model wanting or not?

On Friday, 18 September 2026, dbrownconsulting will host The AI Model Audit: Copilot, Claude & ChatGPT Under Review.

This time, the task has changed. Rather than build a model, Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT will be used to review a human-built financial model. The session will provide a practical look at how each tool identifies errors, questions assumptions, assesses structure, and responds to the complexities of a real modeling environment.

Joining David Brown for the session is Paul Barnhurst, widely known as The FP&A Guy. Paul is an experienced FP&A professional, corporate trainer, consultant, Advanced Financial Modeler, and Microsoft Excel MVP. His work helps finance professionals and organisations improve their financial planning, forecasting, modeling, and business strategy capabilities.

Together, David and Paul will examine what AI can contribute to the model-review process and what still distinguishes a professionally reliable model in an AI-assisted world.
